Major Responsibilities:

The Total Rewards Lead will be responsible for supporting the Nuclear, Security, and Environmental (NS&E), business of the company in business development, project startup, and compliance activities related to compensation and benefits.  Working within Bechtel's corporate compensation structure, the NS&E GBU Total Rewards Lead will be responsible for ensuring a compensation program, system and process that is considered adequate and reliable in accordance with a variety of US and Polish governmental requirements and market competitiveness.


This position is designated as part-time telework under Bechtel’s global policy and requires a minimum of three days per week in person at the assigned office or project. Weekly schedules will be determined in coordination with the supervisor and functional leadership.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and leverages industry trends, legislative updates, and best practices to ensure compensation programs, policies, and processes are current, effective, and meet business goals.
  • Responds to US government compensation audits including DCAA, DOL, and OFCCP.
  • Participates on proposal teams and provides guidance regarding labor rates, benefit costs, SCA requirements, and develops total compensation plans as required.
  • May participate in LLC transition activities to include compensation, benefits, and pension integration.  May participate on LLC benefits and investment committees.
  • Ensures compensation programs comply with applicable state and federal laws/regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Service Contract Act (SCA), etc.  Works with payroll and system teams to ensure compliance with SCA regulations.
  • Develops annual incurred cost submission for compensation.
  • Develops project specific incentive programs as required.
  • Participates in the annual total compensation planning process which may include researching, recommending, and implementing plan design changes.
  • Provides compensation training at various points during the compensation planning process.  Communicates effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborates with Total Rewards CoE on pay transparency (US and EU).

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Level I - Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Certification underway through World at Work as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
  • Level II - Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Must be certified through World At Work as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
  • Compensation and benefit experience in DoE/DOD government contracts is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have the right to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.   
  • Working knowledge of human resource information systems related to compensation. 
  • Understanding of compensation practices and laws effecting compensation, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Service Contract Act (SCA), Equal Pay Act, etc.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments. 
  • Must have the ability to adjust quickly and effectively to changing priorities and deadlines and provide timely responses to our customers. 
  • Required to show initative, be self-motivated, detail-oriented, flexible and can work in a fast-paced team environment.
